Our position
Vie Village Senior Living, LLC. recognises both its legal obligation and its ethical responsibility to maintain a workplace in which opportunity is open to every qualified person. We believe that a business made up of people with different backgrounds and different ways of thinking does better work, and we manage ours accordingly.
Equal opportunity
We do not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of race, colour, religion, creed, national origin or ancestry, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, physical or mental disability, genetic information, marital or familial status, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
This applies to every part of employment: recruitment and advertising, hiring, placement, training, promotion, transfer, compensation, benefits, discipline, layoff, recall and termination. Employment decisions are made on the basis of qualifications, merit, performance and the needs of the business.
A workplace free of harassment
We do not tolerate harassment or bullying of any kind, whether based on a protected characteristic or not. That includes conduct at our premises, at a client’s premises, at work-related events, and in written and electronic communication.
Anyone who believes they have experienced or witnessed harassment or discrimination is encouraged to report it. Reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly and, so far as possible, confidentially. We do not retaliate against anyone for raising a concern in good faith or for taking part in an investigation, and we treat retaliation as a disciplinary matter in its own right.
Reasonable accommodation
We provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities, and to sincerely held religious beliefs and practices, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the operation of the business. If you need an accommodation at any stage — including during the application process — tell us, and we will discuss it with you.
Inclusion in practice
A policy that exists only on a page changes nothing. In practice we work to:
- Write job descriptions around the skills a role genuinely requires, rather than around credentials that narrow the field for no good reason.
- Seek candidates from a range of sources rather than relying only on personal networks.
- Give everyone access to the training, mentoring and stretch work that leads to advancement.
- Review pay and progression for patterns we would not be able to justify.
- Make our own products and websites accessible to people with disabilities, which we treat as part of the same commitment.
Suppliers and clients
We expect the same standards from the people we work with. We choose suppliers and partners on merit, we welcome the opportunity to work with businesses owned by people who are under-represented in our industry, and we reserve the right to decline or end an engagement where conduct is inconsistent with this policy.
Responsibility
Every member of the organisation is responsible for upholding this policy, and management is responsible for applying it consistently and for acting on concerns raised. We review the policy periodically and update it as our obligations and our understanding develop.
